is it ok to plug up the mooing hose?
ok I obtained an ARC air box recently and threw it on the fd, anyways on the air box the mooing hose and the hose that leads to the air pump are both blocked off. meaning that there's a male notch for the hose to plug on to, but the notches are solid, they don't go into rhe air box. so basically its like plugging up the mooing hose and the airpump hose.
so is it ok ?? or should I drill through the notchs to make it go in.

Don't drill the air box. You can just remove the air pump if you want to eliminate the sound. However, you will need a pulley kit from greddy or something similar. Also, if you don't have a dp you should be careful cause it could lead to a clogged pre or main cat.

A couple things you should know.
-You need a working air pump to keep your main cat from clogging.
-Unplugging the grey plug from the air pump will cause it to freewheel.

My air hose has some sort of muffler on it and is not attached to the airbox - no mooing sound. Without this muffler, I get the moos pretty bad. Sorry, the previous owner had this put on, so i'm not sure if it is even stock or where he got it.

i have what you are mentioning. What you have to do is run a hose from the UIM (airpump exhaust) and i have two HKS looking plastic mufflers or check valves. I think they are big one way check valves and i vent it near the radiator. Works out fine. no MOO

hey danny, are you referring to the black plastic baffle that was included with the HKS intake. I only have one, and it doesn't seem to be eliminating the mooing completely, however it does make it a lot softer.

yes I have a dp, and mp
I not trying to get rid of the mooing sound if thats what you guys are implying.
Its just that the ARC air box if you compare it with the stock air box have all the same holes for the hoses to plug in to, except on the holes for the hose that runs to the air pump and the mooing hose, on those holes they are blocked off. So if I drill through those holes, then it will be the same as the stock air box..
but if blocking the the mooing hose and the AP hose isn't harming anything I'll just leave it.

Just open the holes for the hoses, I imagine they are blocked for those without airpump, etc. If you block the intake for the airpump it will **** off the pump and your cat will not last long, as well as not pass emissions tests if you have them.

here is a pic
here, i have a pic of the black "mufflers" I have two running in line and they are both HKS. The hose runs all the way down to near the bottom of the radaiator. I think the longer the better. Sort of like a long pipe for mufflers.

I also have the ARC air box. I don't use that blocked off connection on the air box. Instead go to store and get a crankcase breather that fits the hose going to the inlet of the air pump. Install the breather and run the hose straight down behind the air box. Cant be seen and works fine. It then draws cooler air. I have heard hot air intake is hard on the air pump. I have no idea what the blocked off nipple is for as if you remove the air pump you would not have that hose. If you keep air pump that hose should not be blocked.
