OK its a new motor. whast the next problem

well, the electronics are all screwy and i know that and im working on un-doing all the rats nest that is the wiring. BUT heres the new question. and thanks for all your patience and i have done a search on this. today, she started up fine drove her back home from the gas station and the coolant light came on 3 diff times. i get white smoke on startup and i dont really think it smells sweet but whatever. i opened up the oil filler neck and yes there was some white/off white foam which tells me shes burnin some coolant. BUT why? the seals are brand new and shes never been allowed to go past 3/4 of the way up before i shut her down due to fear of over heat. SOOOOO why is coolant getting in? it really shouldnt be the seal because she still has less than 150 miles on it and has NEVER been opened up WOT or taken past 3,000. also the speedometer is not working but i figure i can trace down that problem. thanks guys later. OH and she spews the white clouds on startup but it really usually goes pretty much away when she warms up good.

poor rebuild

OR, the bearings are oil'd and water cooled on the turbos, if the housing between the two crack, you can mix oil/coolant there

so it *might* be the turbos, i have a set i'm selling, as well as any chekc valves/sensors/parts you might need

who did the rebuild?

take it right back to him, you should have paid money for a good shop to do the rebuild (like pineapple, then you'd get a warranty)

White smoke on start up means your coolant seals are shot!

I have been thinking about this whole warranty thing...How does that work, what are the terms? It just seems it would be a bit hard for places like that to honor a warranty when you have a good rebuild on one end, and an idiot with a ProfecB on the other end...

What happens if you carelessly run 20 psi on the twins and do back to back runs at the drag until "Kapow!" motor dead!...How does warranty cover that?

well, it's sorta the honor system, the warranty would cover it, but nobody likes engine swaps....

you'd tend to avoid redeeming a warranty

well i got the smoke against a black background and it looks like it has more of a blueish tint to it and the same color smoke is also rising out og the engine bay where the turbos are. some of you said the oils seals hadnt set up yet but i think there might be and exhaust/oil leak in the turbos some where. weird thing is i jsut went outside to start her up and the started up on 3rd try and idled perfect at 800 for the first time... chris said that aaron had alot of electrical shiznit to work out b4 she would run properly. my guess is he did at least some of that stuff and i know he DID replace the wiring harness. any more advice?

R1junkie,

My suggestion is to work down that list Mr RX7 TT provided in the last thread. Verify those things have been taken care of or not.

When you open up the filler neck cap, is there coolant in it (don't bother checking the overflow tank)?

yeah shes not burnin coolant i dont think and if so a VERY small amount. i just took her out after it took about 5 or six tries to get her to catch. she ran and puff theres the smoke but that wnet away after a good warming up sitting at idle. i topped off the coolant and took her out 10 mins with no problem then the coolant buzzer sounded for about 6 seconds then shut off and i drove for another 10-15 minutes no variation in the heat gauge. no smoke and crisp throttle response with the exception of a slight hesitation when shifted very fast and throttle pushed a lil more than 1/4 of the way down. my main problem now i suppose would be to figure out why it is so god blessed hard to start. the plugs were fouled a bit but i replaced them and shes still a beeatch to get goin. but after she starts up after about 5 mins shes goin good again (so far) the car is random out the ying yang. at least the coolant buzzer isnt on AGAIN. *whew* seems to shut off after thermostat opens by my guess. so why is she so hard to start? and what can i do to fix it. she turns but ill just get the wa wa wa wa wa wa pitta pitaa pitta wawawa-------wa-------wa then wawawawawawawawa pitta pitaa pitaa pitta pitta pitta waaaaaaapity vroooom idle at about 2k for 3 seconds then idle drops to 1,500 then i rev her for a second and the idle will sit conisitent at about 1,200. damn the wierdness. aaron has a new wiring harness/completely programmable ecu with labtop connections and a hand held tuner but they arent installed but he says he fixed everything else on the list (inc. the old wiring harness) the new stuff just cant get in the car before saturday. OH and it comes with brand new bosch igniters. thanks again for any help.

Gotta be honest here and say you really might want to re-think forcing the car to run by prom. I know this is the "END OF THE WORLD!!!" situation for you, but getting stranded on the way due to overheating or not being able to start when it needs to is probably worse! Plus ruining a potentially good rebuild over a single night doesn't seem to smart to me. But then I went to prom like 15 years ago. Back then, sharing the limo was SOOOO lame I died of shame (as my folks chuckled) and now I barely recall that night! In a year, you'll look back and laugh.

Look, if you really have removed the air bubbles from the system and you are still getting buzzer until the T-stat opens, this really isn't a very stable engine situation, and NOT safe to drive it. The hard start and smoke are probably fuel management issues that you reallyoughta have a ROTARY shop look at, as diagnosing those over the internet just isn't productive.

Anyway, that's my take on it. If I had a car to loan you and lived nearby, I'd lend you the damn thing. Have you called a limo service yet to see what up?

yeah i called the limo service(s) and everyone is booked. i got the car to actually start starting up on cue but i sometimes get the buzzer. i think i may have to take your advice on this one. it is a huge dissapointment though. ive spent literally everyday of the last two weeks working my *** off on it. and ive saved aaron one hell of alot of money doing all this work. i guess im just not good at accepting defeat. later all.. and thanks for the help given.
