Ok gearheads..The Ultimate question

If any of you are big F1 Racing fans and have been for many years. You would know that in the mid 80's they where turbo charged and big time (fastest period in all of F1 Racing). The question is. Why turbo Charged? Why not just stick a super charger in there?Turbo has turbo lag super charger does not.

turbos spool higher on average. Superchargers apply more lowend torque compared to the high end provided from the turbo.

a supercharger takes alot of power to turn, a turbo uses free waste to turn ,no power loss also most turbos are smaller and lighter than blowers

For every 100 hp a supercharger gives you it takes 30 hp in parasitic loss.

I read in an auto mag that the supercharger on the new AMG (SL55?) requires 100 HP to run at full boost! Also, turbo lag isn't much of a problem when you are always keeping the car in the powerband.
