I park my FD after a normal drive home. I go inside for a minute and come back outside to wash it. I hear a grinding noise near the front left side underneath the turbo intakes (if you are facing the engine)! I turn the acc power on and the add coolant light is on and it is beeping (a consistent beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep).
So I start the engine, the grinding noise goes away and the beeeeep starts. So I shut off the engine, the grinding noise goes away, and check the oil. It is full. I am quite confused as to what is going on. Anybody have any ideas??

Does the grinding sound like the fans running? Maybe something is wrong with you fans, or something is caught in them and making them make the horrible noise. Oh and the coolant beep noise is never good. When it cools check your coolant also.
well, what about this, whenever i turn the car off, it boils. when i listen to it, bubbles go from the back right(turbo area) to the ast. i'd check for that, and does anyone know how to get rid of that?

The car was off when this happened, and what type of grinding like metal or plastic. Maybe if you explained the noise a little better we can help you better. Could be the fans still, because my IC bushing fell into one of the fans and made a terrible grinding sound then stopped, but I didn't know what it was since one fan stopped and the other was still on I thought the fans were fine. Then my car would get hot all the time when it was it was at a stop. If I were you I would check the fans before anything else.

Well, it has not happened since, but I want to say it was a metal grinding. But I really cannot recall. I have driven about 40 miles since this occured and have not had any more cooling problems. Should I still worry about this?

MARKMEMCAJ, do you get a lot of smoke when you car starts up?
Check the level of coolant in the filler neck (not the overflow tank).
If you are getting a lot of boiling after shutoff, two things you can do are:
1. Run 50/50, this will raise your boiling point
2. Run the fans for a few minutes before shutting down. Get the coolant down to 180F before turning off the engine. This will help the heat soak, the coolant will probably soak to about 220F, but this is well below the boiling point so you shouldn't get any boiling this way. Works for me. Boiling is not good even with the engine off because it causes the metal to cool unevenly, not a huge deal but try to avoid it.

I get that all the time, its the coolent boiling, just pop the hood and let it run for 2-3 min before shutting it off (should be doing this anyways) then it shouldnt be that bad.
I agree. After a drive i pop the hood and a wave of heat hits me. The thing runs hot, so just pop the hood and let it run. It will let thigs cool off and your metal will cool evenmly
