Oil in primary turbo outlet pipe

I've been having boost issues. It sounds a lot like the "sticking TCA/E solenoid," however after doing the additional check valve mod nothing has changed:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...ctive-1120259/

Basically very low primary boost, starts to build to about 3 psi from 3,000 to 4,000, then at 4,000 full boost all of a sudden. Every so often the primary will kick in, but it's rare. In first gear, the secondary rarely kicks in at all, but seems to be more likely to if you accelerate more slowly.

I swear everything WAS working fine, and then this problem started, unprompted, out of no where.

So I'm in the middle of going through everything, replacing check valves, the "turbo control" solenoid pair, checking other solenoids, lubing actuator arms, etc. However, upon removing the primary turbo outlet pipe (the one in back by the firewall) I found some oil pooled in it. There also seems to be evidence of oil going down the (lower) intake manifold pipes. Could this be a clue?

I've only owned this car for about two months and it sure is fun!

That is the 2ndary turbo air inlet. The primary turbo is the front one that faces forward.

Not too unusual to have some oil leaking out of the compressor housing when a turbo is being abused like mad.

In this case the 2ndary turbo is being spun up syper hard to provide full boost at transition since it is picking up all the slack for the primary turbo.

Nost common cause for your symptom is just a plain old boost leak. Once the 2ndary turbo is online both together can move enough air to supply the boost leak and the full boost. Together the stock turbos can move e ough air for just over 400rwhp, so 10psi and 250rwgp plus a boost leak is no sweat for them together.

Donno what the issue was, but after removing the rats nest (for secondary rail/injector install), replacing all solenoids, check valves, intake gaskets and most of the vacuum lines, it works perfectly. Go figure.
