Oil Pressure Sensor install?
I have already searched the numerous prior threads regarding the Oil Pressure Sensor subject, however, I couldn't find any info regarding my issue.
For those of you that have either replaced the sensor or removed/reinstalled it, how far did you screw it back in?
I just installed a new one last night and now I am unable to slide the socket over the rear trailing plug to put it in, let alone fit the boot over the spark splug. I installed the sensor about as far as I could get it up against the block. I'm thinking that I was wrong in doing so.
I can't recall how far in my prior sensor was screwed in. The new sensor and old sensor are identical in size. If I back the new sensor out some, I should be able to get the socket past the flanger at the base of the sensor and onto the trailing plug. The problem with backing the sensor out, is that it appears that the wire connector that attaches to the sensor will be too short to reach the connector on top of the sensor.
Common sense tells me that this is what I have to do, however, I wanted to get a couple of outside opinions before doing so....
FWIW, I removed and reinstalled the plugs and the Oil sensor from under the car with the wheel off...
TIA for any responses/opinions.
GEB.

I guess you are talking about the OEM oil pressure sensor on the back of the block on the drivers side.
If it is interfering with the spark plug I can't imagine what you have done wrong.
If I remember correctly, the sensor screws into a small connector that itself screws into the engine. Even if you left that off, I can't imagine that the sensor would get in the way of changing the plugs.
You should be able to EASILY get to the rear plugs. I have never seen a situation where the pressure sensor is in the way.
Good luck with it.

The OEM sender screws into a Spacer/Adapter that screws into the block - it may have come off with the orig. sender, making the new sender sit too close to the block, if you did not transfer the spacer to the new sender.
Here is a link to my other thread about the oil pressure sender.
