Oil Pressure Sending Unit Adapter?

Tried to install a VDO oil pressure sending unit into the one Mazda uses for its sending unit. It barely threaded in 1/8 inch under torque.

The Mazda one starts off much more narrow but fits into a 1/8 pipe very well.
The 1/8 pipe starts off about 1/32-1/16" thicker.

How have others installed American sending units into the Mazda block.

This is for a friend I am helping.

brake hose adaptors , I have an aftermarket sending unit on my car. and it uses an adapter that threads into the block and then the sending unit threads into the adapter .. but Man I'm sorry I dont remember thesize.. I believe its M10x1.25 go to lowes and use their little thread / bolt size tool

finding the adaptor is the more difficult part , I believe that some auto-parts stores sell a kit for it .

If memory serves the stock hole is 1/8" NPT, I know Mazda used BSPT (metric pipe thread) on the FC which was strange.

But, I've seen "big" 1/8" NPT and "small", even taps that were different sizes.

Might just be worth installing it in one of those oil filter pedastal adapter blocks. Or, one trick I saw ages ago - take the banjo bolt for the rear oil cooler line and drill/tap it for 1/8" NPT, makes for a clean install.

I just tried using my 1/8 pipe thread tap to recut the female threads in the Mazda adapter.
This worked and allowed the VDO unit to screw in about 1/4".

Thanks.
