Oil pressure sender

I'm replacing all my gauges in my cluster with aftermarket units and I was wondering if the Oil pressure sender is only there for the OEM gauge or does the ECU needs it.

As often as that connection gets dirty and needs cleaning and as issue prone as the sender seems to be, I wouldn't think the ECU would depend on it.

I'm 90% sure its just for the gauge. Just want to know for sure so I can eliminate it and put the one that comes with the new gauge there.

The ecu does not need it. I just got done putting EVO prosports gauge water and oil press. Just replace the sender with a new one.

Gauge only, I've sacked off mine and replaced with a Defi sender.

It's 1/8PT (note: NOT NPT)- which,a s far as I can see, is a made up thread designation used only by the Japanese It's the same as 1/8 BSPT.
