Oil Pressure light coming on randomly

Hey guys i have a 93 FD I've had it for about 3 months it has 56,xxxmiles on it and just today after a long drive my oil pressure gauge light (little red one) came on randomly. The pressure was fine at 3.5 at around 3000rpm i would take it out of gear and the light would go out and then be fine then randomly come back on again 30mins later and do the same thing, this happened about 4 times in 3hrs. I checked the oil and its fully serviced so I'm not too sure what to think of the matter. Faulty gauge? Or do i really have some pressure problems?

Sounds like the the oil level warning...if your certain you're full of oil. Probably a faulty sensor. It's located on the side of the oil pan...IIRC a single wire to a connector. Will require draining oil to replace.

yep there is only an oil level light, not oil pressure light.
(the gauge reads pressure, and the light indicates low oil level.)
your probably slightly low on oil and its sloshing around making the light go on and off.

top it off a little and you should be sweet.

Also, IIRC, there's a specific 'O' ring associated with that sensor. I'd assume you'd get a new one with a new sensor, but it might be a question to ask. I seem to remember mine being pretty pancaked when I removed it.
