Oil Pressure gauge inaccurate
Oil Pressure gauge inaccurate
I have a 93RX7 with M2 Stage 3 mods.
I have a oil pressure reading problem. It seems to read fine during RPM's at 4K and above, but below it reads almost at zero. I know the oil pressure and lub system is working. Motor has ~10K Mazda Rebuilt.
Person I bought it from said he replaced oil sending unit with new. Could it be that the sending units bad again.
I checked oil sending unit with compressed air and the VOM meter read zero to short during test. No vari on ohms.
Dealer said new oil sending unit is about $100.00 is that the going price for OEM or is there a better after market one available. Thought about installing an after market oil pressure gauge but I don't want to make the RX7 look like a steam engine with more gauges.

What's the best way to clean sending unit?
Also whats a defi oil pressure gauge look like. I'm thinking of taking my 2nd gen sending unit out and trying it on my 3rd gen.
Comment anyone..........

In addition to cleaning the sending unit check the electrical CONNECTORS, broken/frayed wires or Oil/dirt in the FEMALE half (the part on the harness) can effect the readings also and is often overlooked when replacing the sender.

Both my brother and I have 93 RX-7s and the gauge does the same thing. Mine will go from reading nothing at low rpm to a reasonable amount and read low at RPM to reading a reasonable amount. It scared me at first but I am told the gauges just arent that good. I might try cleaning mine to see what happens.
