Oil pressure bouncing

about 2 days ago, my eyes caught my oil pressure gauge bouncing around within 10 psi. I also think it is leakingoil, as there have been a few small spots left where I park now, and I believe it is from my car. I had problem with leaking oil before and it was the oil pan. My engine was recently rebuilt and has around 18k on it now. anyone have any ideas on what is causing the pressure fluxuations?

If it was bouncing noticeably it is probably a bad connection between the sendging unit and the harness, most likely just dirtied up over the years. Just clean off the connections and plug it back it, that might fix it.. the stock gauge is so slow responding that I doubt an oil leak would make it bounce.

Mine varies by RPMs... almost like a little tachometer!
I was wondering if this is normal??????

Yes, that is normal operation. It should be around 30 psi at idle, 60 psi at 3000 rpm and should top out at WOT.

but if it bounces erratically, the first place to check is the oil pressure sensor under the oil filter.

Do an OHM test on it
With the engine off, it shold read over 74ohms
If you are able to attach an external oil pressure gauge, at 30psi, the sensor should read at about 43ohm. At 45psi, the sensor should read between 50-57ohms.
