Oil pedestal o-ring issue

I ordered what I thought was the oil pedestal o-ring from Malloy, instead i got two small o-rings that are not big enough for the application.

How does everyone do this assembly anyway? Do you just put some grease on the o-ring and put it on the piece attached to the engine, then set the pedestal on and tighten it down evenly while trying not to get the o-ring out of place?

Seems tricky, but probably because my o-ring is stretched, hence the purchase of a new one.

the oil pedestal needs two small o-rings. You got the right parts. there is an inlet and outlet that use seperate o-rings.

I cleaned everything and used clean motor oil and held it down while I hand threaded the bolts. then the o-rings shouldnt go anywhere while you tighten them down. Nothing special I dont think, just make sure they are in place.

The two small o-rings are correct. When you take off the pedestal you will see two oil channels with a recessed ring around each of them. The o-rings will sit in these rings. You should put some motor oil on them first and then just place the pedestal on and tighten to spec.

are you talking about the oil filler neck instead of the oil pedistal? Neck takes a larger single o ring pedistal takes 2 smaller orings.

Don't use grease. Apply a thin coat of silicone to the o-rings. It will help them seal and keep them in place untill you bolt it down. Don't use too much though or you can block the oil passages.

dammit, yes

people always talked about leaks around the oil "pedestal" and since my filler neck was leaking I always just thought of it as the pedestal. Well I'm an idiot. Oh well, I've got myself some extra o-rings now. Should have known Ray didn't make the mistake.
