Oil Metering Pump Question..

I have the motor apart and I went to reinstall my oil metering pump and I realized that the **** on the metering pump side was spun around and I am not sure how it was when I took it out. Is that **** supposed to be in a certain position when you reinstall it and how can I tell? Is there any way to tell if the pump has gone bad either? Thanks.

I know the service manual has a section dedicated to verifying proper operation of the OMP. You definitely want to replace it now if you have to, otherwise it's about 7-8 hours to replace it (if you're an experienced mechanic, much longer if not).

BTW, if your OMP is bad, a new one will have to be flown in from Japan and will cost approx $1400. Pick up a low mileage used one if possible.
