Oil metering, Oil

94 - stock - 40,400 miles - Just put new plugs in this week end and noticed a little oil seeping out of one of the turbo tubes. Tightened up 5 or 6 clamps as they were loose and got to wondering where the oil metering injects the oil, and should there be any oil in the turbo tubes on the top of the engine.

thanks, Gribblet

Oil in the intake tract is normal. Don't tighten the hose clamps too tight, this is a common mistake.

Oil metering is injected right into the rotor housings. You won't see any oil from there.

The PVC system vents into the PRIMARY turbo intake and is a source of some oil, the Turbos use plain journal bearings and always leak a small amount of oil into the intake tract also , so YES a light coating of oil in the Intercooler & Piping is Normal -Puddles of oil at the bottom of the IC is Bad - means the Turbos are leaking excessive amounts of oil (like mine currently)
the OMP injects oil directly into the rotor chambers near the intake ports.

Thanks for the info - you just relieved a lot of stress. Lite coating of oil, and I tightned them fairly snug, but not excessively. - O.K.

This is such a great site.
