Oil Leak, Not the usual symptoms...

Ok, i have searched and have checked out what everyone suggested to do. My mods are intake dp cb. I have an oil leak, it seems to be coming right by the passenger side engine mount. When I am driving, periodically I can smell oil being burnt (with the windows down), and my idle has been kind of weird, where instead of being steady, it tends to skip a beat everyonce in awhile. What worries me is, when I changed the oil about 500 miles ago, i smelt gas in the oil filter? Bad seals maybe? This oil leak just developed about 3 days ago and I cant narrow it down. I checked the oil pan but couldnt find it. I have had by bov vented to the atmoshpere for about a year now, and all of a sudden its spitting a lot of oil out of it, and when in park their is a lot of air being pushed out of it which makes no sense when its only at 1100 rpm? Any help is really appreciated, this is the first problem i have had in over a year, and the engine only has 57k miles on it.

Thank you for your input
bryan

Check your rearview mirror for smoke after boosting, or have someone follow and look for oil smoke.

I fear you may have a turbo on the way out. (the oil blown into the intake can leak and dribble down off the rear inlet pipe).

If you can get a look at it check your rear oil return line as well, mine had a leak in the middle where the stock line has a little "insulator" wrapped around it and was absorbing the oil and then dripping it and generally smelling of burnt oil all the time. If you're getting oil out the BOV you've probably got a turbo oil seal on its way out.

how easy is it to replace the turbo oil seal? Would any of these symptoms be because I put to much oil in? I also have a lot of stuttering when I am in reverse and going very slow(put on brake) the car stutters severely and almost stalls. Im not sure what is going on, but this is my daily driver and need to figure out whats going on.

hmmm, when i go into reverse and am barely on it, my car shakes violently at 500rpm and almost stalls, than i put it in drive and its fine. Also, when i am say quater throttle their is a lot of air being blown through the bov. I know when its hot out my car stalls with the ac on when coming to a stop, something i have been trying to fix for almost two years. I think my oil leak was due to I added to much oil, as indicated by the dipstick. My exhaust note isnt right either, instead of being steady, it skips a beat every 4 or 5 seconds. Just not sure where to go, maybe ill try new spark plugs and wires.

It could also mean that one of your OMP lines are leaking. Mine leaked pretty badly until I replaced them with stainless steel ones.

With the symptoms you have listed it is very likely you have more than one problem. That makes the troubleshooting harder.

The oil coming out of the BOV is pretty straight forward - only 2 places oil can get in there 1) the turbos and your explanation of overfilling your oil is a good explanation as increased pressure can force oil though seals or 2)oil can be forced out the pcv system into your intake - the stock system actually puts the oil into the intake of the turbos. It is possible that once you correct the oil level it will stop if that was the cause. If it continues after the level is corrected it could be you have marginal or bad turbo seal or it is also possible your pcv valve is bad. Have you by chance done anything to the pcv system like the 95 mod or eliminated one of those lines? If so remove your oil filler cap and drive around and see if anything changes.

The shaking in reverse is not clear cut but plugs and wires are a good place to start.

The gas smell in the oil is normal - mine has always been that way as have many others.

Good luck.
