Oil leak from front crank seal

I'm assuming they meant the front cover. It's definitely a pain in the ***, the subframe has to come down and the oil pan has to come off to do it properly. Honestly, if it's not that bad of a leak, I'd say leave well enough alone, unless it's on a fresh motor (in which case I'd take it back to the shop that did the work and demand they fix the leak free of charge).
It's much more irritating than anything else. We check the fluids on this car at least weekly and it gets only 40-50 miles a week on it so there is no real danger of running too low on oil. We are probably better off leaving it alone. Thanks for the info.
Is it leaking from the cover or from the e shaft seal? Replacing the the e shaft seal isn't as bad of a job as resealing the front cover, but it does take some special precautions specific to a rotary engine.
You have to be VERY carefull if removing the e-shaft bolt. The needle bearing spacer can easily fall out of place. Thats why I said its not worth doing. If you have alot of mechanical know how you could attempt it, but as a shop owner I wouldn't advise it as with the labor time involved its not cost effective.
