Oil Leak

I have an oil leak, but it's not coming from the usual suspect locations. It's coming from the top of the engine near the front rotor housing. The sparkplug side of the front rotor housing is covered with oil that has run down to the subframe. I've felt around on the filler neck to see if it was cracked or split and leaking, but it's dry. Can anyone offer any ideas as to the source of the leak before I start removing things? TIA.

What kind of oil metering lines are on the car? Stock or the braided metal ones? Can't hurt to go ahead and check the oil filler neck and take it off and inspect it. Did you use a metal front cover gasket? Just throwing out ideas to check on.

Isn't there an oil vent line somewhere around there that is normally routed to the oil filler neck?

I have a MOP adapter that pulls lubricant from an alternate source. I'm using Castrol 2 cycle which is blue in color, so that's it. I guess I will have to start taking stuff apart to find the problem, but I won't be able to anytime soon and I need the car next weekend so I hope it's nothing that will cause a major issue.

Yes, but would that much oil leak from it?

check your PCV valve, if its cloged it might cause it to leak oil fumes, there are two nipples on the oil neck. mine was doing that so i replace the PCV with a vented oil catch can, and took off the oil filler neck to check the o-ring and put gasket maker on it.

Don,

So the color of the oil that is on the side of the engine is blue like the 2 cycle your using or is it the color of the oil in the oil pan? If your going to need the car next weekend, just be safe and premix some in the gas tank with the 2 stroke oil to be on the safe side.

On top of the engine, near the front rotor housing is the steel line feeding oil to the Twins. It is held together to the oil passage by a single banjo bolt and two copper crush gaskets - 12mm I believe. It's right behind the altenator.

Nobody pointed that out to you.
