Question oil leak

i have a 93 i just bought and it didn't pass inspection due to oil leaking on the exhaust. it looked like it was coming from the turbo so i took it back and had the dealers mechanic look at it to see what was up. couldn't find any oil leaking from the turbo or any of the turbo's hoses underneath so we tried looking from the top and still no luck. so we degreased the under caraige and the top of the motor and i took it home to drive it and see if the oil would leak again and maybe get a better idea where its coming from. next morning took it down the highway and could smell the oil within half hour of driving. any sugesstions as to what else to look for when i take back again today to put it on the lift?????

The oil pan often works loose and leaks (the motor mounts mount through the pan into the block).

The best repairs are done using silicone without a gasket.

Here's a thread that describes a method of repair without pulling the engine or removing the engine subframe.
