oil filter housing banjo washers

While I have my tranny out I discovered an oil leak at the banjo bolt on the oil filter housing. I want to replace the 2 washers because they are grooved and are probably the cause. But I can't find them anywhere. Where can I get those?

call ray crowe at malloy mazda... or any mazda dealer.

or

place a piece of fine (800 or above) emory paperon a flat surface. after cleaning the grease/oil off your O ring rub it on the emory paper and in a minute you will be looking at a flat surface.

I couldn't find a good source for metric copper gaskets so I cleaned the old ones off and re-annealed them. I hit them with a torch until they were good and hot and then let them cool down. They are much softer now.

BTW, Advance Auto had a pack of mixed metric sizes for about $5, I forget which sizes were included though.

Next time heat them up and dump them in water to cool , they will then be soft as new . I sand them down for reuse if I must and they have worked with out fail .

Doesn't annealing require slower cooling?

I was told to heat the copper head gaskets for the turbo bikes and dump them in water all at once , not slowly

I would only do than in an emergency. Its not worth saving a few pennies and risk a leak to me. The copper sometimes deforms and the washers don't retain their shape sometimes.

I sanded them down and the groves are gone. I think I will just use these. Thanks!

Agreed. Maybe for the oil filter line if I were really in a hurry, but for things like the OMP or other buried lines...I don't think I'd chance it.

I've done a little reading, and it seems that the cooling step is not critical for annealing copper. Ferrous materials are a different story.
