oil filler neck

ok, we i think i have a leak on my filler neck, i see a coat of think oil around it, also here is what happen last night.
Temp stayed steady at 86-88C, boosted WOT 1,2,and 3rd. everything good, got home, parked the car for 30min, notice a puddle of oil, about 1/2 a quart, WTF. degressed the car, took the car to the wash and hosed it off, drove it home and let it sit to see if i notice where the oil is from, nothing, 4 hrs later nothing, wtf!
last mod i did was oil catch can, i route the line back to the nipple where the PCV attached, so i disconnected that and see if it still there, im thinking that there is to much blow by and that it spilled some oil? maybe the can could not handle it or the hose at the end has a leak. When i had the can vented before, it built maybe 1tsp of oil in a month, now with it hooked up i notice about 1/8qt of oil in about a week.

anyhow, is the filler neck a common problem, anything else that would leak near that or under the throttle body hear sparkplug wires and such? car runs great, vac is good.

The o ring at the base of my oil filler neck was hardened and cracked. replace it if it is in poor condition.

Also, check your hose connections that you modified and anything you could have accidentally bumped. (not there there are a whole lot of oil related items in that region of the car.

open vented the catch can instead of putting it back to the manifold, not a single drop yet, will keep an eye on it.

Only one vent line may not be enought volume to relieve the blow by and cause it to blow oil! I had to run two lines becouse of running higher boost!
One 3/8 or 5/16 line was to small they recomend 8 an or 1/2'' i belive!
Anyway it solved my problem. While on the dyno tunning it would spit about 1/4 qt of oil.

Your factory one will be fine. Just take it off and go to a Napa or other auto parts store for a new o ring. I would take a little black RVT and put it on the CLEAN block flange put the ring on and add some to the CLEAN oil filler neck flange. Next cap off the connection to the upper intake manifold. Run two 1/2 lines to the oil catch can. Make sure your catch can has a vent on the top of it.

I typically just use RTV on the oil filler neck and never had an issue. Just pull it off (not an easy task if your car is fairly stock), clean off the mating surface, then put a bead of RTV around the opening and reinstall the oil filler neck.

cool thanks guys. will do it when i get a day off, now there is a light coating of oil everytime i drive, i dont see it comeing from anywhere else on that side of the car besides the oil neck.
BTW i did hook up my catch can that way, 1/3 hose from both nipple to the catch can and i modified the can to have a filter on it.
