Oil Disaster - Aftermath
Oil Disaster - Aftermath
Looks like it was just my oil filter... which sounds like an obvious first thing to check out, which is really what I did; I was just worried that it might be related to something else that would blow my oil filter seal off. So I changed the oil filter... and now this is how my oil pressure is acting.
On the stock scale of 0-8(unsure of units kPa??)
Warmup: 7
b/w 0-3000 rpm: linear increase in pressure
3000 rpm: 4
@ idle, 800rpm, it is almost at 0??????
Is this right? Im worried that maybe there was something else that went wrong that cause the oil filter to blow in the first place.
Thanks for any help.

Your numbers sound about right. What type of filters are you using? Hopefully not crap like Fram or something. Also if you over tighten the filter is can cause the seal to go bad. You should also coat the seal with fresh oil before putting it on so it doesn't grip the face and tear. Just some pointers just in case.
Yea, most people see oil pressure around zero at idle. If you see strange oil pressures associated with the oil pressure gauge needle jumping around a lot it's probably the sensor. They fail pretty often.

I think the metric Oil Press guages are marked in Bars (1 bar = aprox 14.2psi) Though Bar and Kpa are almost equal. , I never see less the 30psi (2+ Bar) at Idle on my freshly rebuilt motor and even just prior to the rebuild I had at least 20 psi at idle. I think if you are seeing less than 1 Bar or Kpa at idle you may have a problem.
