Very bad idea. Even with a 170F t-stat, my oil temps run at 160F or less on a cold evening during cruising. You certainly don't want colder oil temps than that! (I run dual 25-row coolers.)

most of them will come with a 180* thermostat. that should be fine, but if you want something else, make sure you ask before you buy.

I have a 93 touring, so I only have one oil-cooler. Finding a used R1 right-side oil cooler with all the hoses has been a PITA.
Has anyone have had success running a DIFFERENT oil cooler on the right side (e.g., Mocal or Setrab) what size, and if so, what did you use to do all the plumbing and thermostat ?
