Oil Cooler Question

What would happen if I were to run dual oil coolers with no oil cooler thermostat in my 94?

Oil would be flowing through the oil coolers at all times. Depending on your ambient temp, the oil may not reach a good operating temp hurting your lubrication and gas mileage.

Very bad idea. Even with a 170F t-stat, my oil temps run at 160F or less on a cold evening during cruising. You certainly don't want colder oil temps than that! (I run dual 25-row coolers.)

summit or any perf. parts place.

most of them will come with a 180* thermostat. that should be fine, but if you want something else, make sure you ask before you buy.

I have a 93 touring, so I only have one oil-cooler. Finding a used R1 right-side oil cooler with all the hoses has been a PITA.

Has anyone have had success running a DIFFERENT oil cooler on the right side (e.g., Mocal or Setrab) what size, and if so, what did you use to do all the plumbing and thermostat ?

TIA,
:-) neil
