Oil Cooler Lines

well i got my engine started today with martin, little bit of a pain in the *** getting the tranny and motor together but once we took off one of the engine mounts it went in ok.

aside from some smoke from the exaust (not very well bolted down) the car has one main problem

a disasterous oil leak from the oil cooler lines.!!!!

im not too familiar with these as one of my friends who was helping me pull the motor way back when happened to disconnect the lines while i was gone by pulling the semi-circular three nubbed pins from the connections in the lines and seperating them. i put them back the same way i assumed they came out i got the male end of the line well into the female end to the point where it was snug then put the clip on.. when the motor starts and oil pressure goes up the lines explode spewing oil like crazy. anyway i was too frustrated to keep trying and martin and i were tiard so we called it a night

anyone know something im missing when putting these ******** back together

oh btw in response to the last thread i had about the pressure plate and how to get it out... that went well it was actually much easier than i thought it would be

when they don't cooperate for me, i use a big pair of channel-locks and just pinch them together...works every time and i haven't damaged any (yet, and hopefully not ever ) this way.

either that, or grab one line in each hand and wiggle and twist...but i like the first way better. you'll feel it "seat"

Put the clip on the line first and then snap the two lines together.

Make sure that the pins are lined up with the grooves in the male connector also, otherwise they don't do anything. I found that it was best to pull on the two connectors until you feel the pins snap into place to make sure they are solidly together.
