oil

well, I just got a reman and its about 1500 miles. Base on the info, I guess it's too early to use redline oil. Maybe I'll just wait a little longer?or maybe a lot longer?

thanks

Most people say that it's harder to break in the engine using synthetic oils. I'm not sure how much longer the break in period would take, but I would not suggest you use synthectic until after you get past the break in period (usually 5000 miles).

Man when I first saw this I was like great another ******* oil thread. But you have a very good question here. I agree with Mahjik you definitely want to wait until you are through you break in period. 5,000 miles seems a bit long IMO.

Well, when I got my reman, I was told 5000 miles.

I bought my wife an Audi A4 last year, and we were told not to rev it past 4500 rpms for 5000 miles.

You can do 2000 if you want to, it's your engine.

I will be putting Mobil 10W-30 dyno oil in my reman. Probably will be sticking to dyno oil too. I will change the oil every 2K miles anyways. Plus, it's a lot cheaper than synthetic.
