Oh NO, my baby not feel so good

Started the car this morning to warm it up and O my god did she smoke. It was so bad that after about 5 minutes I decided to take a pic. It was atleast twice as bad as the picture indicates during the first couple of minutes.

I get in the car and the coolant buzzer is humming away but the compression is terrible so I just say **** it drive off to work. While driving to work the temp gauge rises to the top then drops all the way back down and finally returns to normal. Come home for lunch and no coolant buzzer no smoke and things seem normal. Come home after work and the coolant buzzer is back on but no smoke. Coolant is not leaking from the car the poor thing is just sucking it right in. What's amazing is compression is like 3.7 6.9 3.7 and it starts everytime with no problem and actually drives with good power up to 11lbs of boost but beyond that starts feeling a bit ill. Man this car has got some heart

Coolant is not yet blowing out of the exhaust and it's not yet blowing steam as I drive but that's most likey next unless I get the new engine in before she gives up the fight.

see pic

Fritz-
that's nothing...here's mine when I after repairing a broken turbo shaft which was lodged in my center muffler. It was smoking for a half hour and my neighbors almost called the fire department.

tough one

Fritz;
A tough one she must be....
What symptoms can be expected next?
Do you have any ideas on how you will proceed if a new motor is required?
(specs/cost/vendor)
I hope this bit of misfortune does not impact on your Summit Point activities!
With respect,
Steve (with a suspect motor or turbo coolent hoses...)

Wow!

That looks worse than an ATF treatment.

symptoms: lots of smoke at each start, won't start because the plugs are all wet or the compression gets worse, spraying bits of coolant out the exhaust, etc....

I have a jspec I just bought that will be going in the car shortly. Next month or so.

I'll be at Summit plenty with the NASA later in the year and may also attend some seat time days. Currently this car is my daily driver but my track car is also in trouble. It's getting a new trans and oil pan leak fixed right now.

I really love this car and can't wait to have her running well again and back on the track My goal is to get the weight way down with mostly stock parts and see what kind of laps times I can squeeze out of her.

This car is my daily driver and I plan on keeping it mostly stock for reliability purposes but it's still a blast to drive. I'm hoping to get the weight down to around 2600 wet

replacement motor

Fritz;

Glad to hear you have a replacement motor already!
What are the "pros" of a jspec motor?
Who will be doing the install of the new motor?
Will that be a stock trans. on your race car?
Well hope to see you at the NASA events.
Steve
