what kind of vids are you going to be making? I can't tell if it's adjustable or not... if it were, I'd say mount it in the trunk...tower brace doesn't sound like it's too stable a place to mount it

how about using a small block of wood and longer bolts? Dirty, but it should work

I really want it to go on the bar... I just think its the place for it to be...

Anyone know how i can get the cars 12v down to 6v ? ?? I need to power the camera so I think it would be better without the stupid camera battery... anyone know how to do it ?

that's what I meant, what blackr1 said and I am sure if you can't get that to work that maybe someone one the forum could fabricate you a metal spacer for a little $$.

The only other thingI can think to do is if it dissasembles at all, get someone to make you a shorter bar?

you can also sandwich some springs in between your mounting spacers and tighten the bolts to affect the spring rate-- should provide some shock absorption...just a thought

Nice idea BUT! it would also allow the vibrations to stay in the springs when it happens... Tight and locked in is the way to go and I just hope the damn thing doesnthit my like the fire extinguisher did last time while driving...

hey want2race,

I believe that's the i/o port racing camera mount you have on your car. Does that mount fit the oem rectangular bar, or simply squeeze the clamps in tight?

I am thinking about mounting the i/o port camera mount on the tower bar too, but couldn't figure out the best way to do it.

Do you have the actual footage so we can check out the quality of the videos?

Thanks

I use an I/O Port mount with a Sharp Viewcam. I wrapped an inner-tube around the strut tower bar for better grip and to protect the bar from the mount. The tripod mount on most cameras is weak and prone to breakage. Bigger heavier cameras will not stay tight on the tripod mount. I tie down the camera with the neck strap and also use the secondary strap from I/O Port to hold the camera in place. Its not a perfect setup, but it works. The I/O Port mount was $95 @ Frey Racing. I tried to build my own...
