FL Oem front bumper modification

Got this idea to modify my 93 oem front bumper cover. I am thinking of putting an extra air passage in the middle of the bumper cover for extra cooling. Similar to what the feed front bumper cover has. I have a re vmic setup and i am hoping this helps. My oem hood will also be getting some added air passeges in it. I know this has been done in the past by David Hayes and a few others

yep been done for ages. my favorite is some JDM car where they cut a license plate size area out, and put lights in there too, looks pretty cool

It's your car but few IMO can pull things like that off cleanly. You're hoping it helps. With what? You already have a VMIC. Are you're IAT's high? Are you running hot?

Your intercooler is too big to fit a cold air intake. Why are you compelled to change your intake? Do you have data that IAT or efficiency is not up to par?

It may not be perfect, but lots of people run a hot intake with similar setups. The efficiency may suffer, but the big IC should keep IATs low enough.

Damn i agree that is fugly. It is not what i had in mind. I have a usdm 93 bumper so there is no license plate cover. Also i wanted the ducting inside the bumper slot so it would not stick out like that thing. To each his own though. As far as cooling. I was just seeing if it where possible to get a ram air effect on my air filter as apossed to getting hot air from the engine bay

Basically, the 99 spec front end makes this possible by letting air in through the license plate duct and 99 support bar. There's another plastic piece that traps the air above and behind the bumper support.

The same facilities are not present on the USDM front bumper. Even if they were, it pushes air up through your latch, and not really towards your intake. So you'd get some cooler air in the engine bay, which might help. But, no ram air effect.
