When my motor popped earlier this year, I was running premium + NOS octane booster (I knew better than to do that). I now pop for the $5.79 per gallon for Cam 2 100 octane unleaded; fill-up this past weekend was $75.00!! Fortunately, it's a second car for me, and a once a month fill-up is somewhat acceptable. Plus, expensive fuel is still cheaper than a motor rebuild.

lol bro, dont run pure 100 octane all the time.. mix like 5 gallons to a tank tops man. Unless your running a nice big setup, and you have no cats ect your just going to start clogging stuff up with all that richness

I'm running a high-flow cat, so it has to be unleaded. Plus, octane levels has nothing to do with mixture richness, only the fuel's resistance to detonation. Higher the octane level, the most resistant to detonation. Usually, higher compression ratios require high octane- but boosted engines effectively 'create' a higher compression ratio. The 100 octane is just really good insurance against the dreaded detonation.
Now, if you're running leaded 104 octane, that's just socially irresponsible. You have no valves, or valve guides that benefit from the lubrication provided by the lead content. As for the seals, that's why oil is injected into the rotary engine. Save a few bucks, and the rest of your fellow 3rd gen driver's health, and just run the unleaded stuff.

xylene and heptane is also used too.
the problem with additives in a can is that there is no guarantee that they will mix thoroughly.
so part of the gas tank might have lower octane than others.

DO NOT use heptane. Octane ratings are taken from a scale of relative detonation resistance. Octane is given a rating of 100, heptane is given a rating of 0. All your other hydrocarbon mixes fall somewhere in between or around it (like toluene-114). Before you start randomly mixing nasty organic chemicals into your tank, try to find out what their octane rating is.
