o2 sensor problems

Looked through some threads and cant find anything specific enough to this problem I just ran into. I was taking parts off to test for any sort of leaks - I can hit 10psi and it'll cut out on me to 0(feels like the car completely dies).

What I just noticed was the o2 sensors ground wasnt grounded(I know easy fix, just ground it). What would be the outcome of this? Would the ECU cut the boost because of bad readings?

I'm asking before trying because I have everything off and I would just like to see if anyone knew this plus maybe other symptoms of having the o2 sensor not grounded. Note: It might be grounding on/off because it is leaning against a screw(the one it should be attached to... and I will attach after some feedback).

If not, I'll keep digging away and doing trial and error for whatever is leaking.

Thanks in advance.

from what you said the boost is doing (dropping to 0) it might be from your ECU going into a "limp mode". when i had a vacuum hose come off not long ago, the engine felt the same way as yours, it just fell on its face. when i fixed the hose, it still did it. then i reset the ECU and it ran perfectly fine again. i'd say fix the ground, then reset the ECU.

the only thing that bothers me is whether or not this problem just started at random... if the ground has always been messed up, why did it just start doing this now. this may be a sign of another problem and you just happened to find this one as well. just a thought...

you know what... there still could be more... but I'll give this a shot first.

and... this 02 sensor must be my fault(which I hate to admit... I'm stubborn), I replaced all the vacuum lines and and a bunch of failing solenoids this summer...

best case scenario....the initial problem was the vacuum lines/solenoids.... and when returning everything... I created this o2 sensor problem and thats it.

worst case.... I return everything... nothing changes... I go back to trial and error.

besides all this - I'm still curious if anyone else knows the outcome of an o2 sensor not being functional... is it just a limp mode(stock ECU)? and I wonder if I had a wideband if I would've known earlier from no display or something.

oh yea.. thanks telum01 - pretty much what I was looking for.
