o-ring failure bubbles

When some you guys talk about the tell tell signs of an o-ring failure being bubbles, do yall mean fizzing bubbles that spill to the ground or just a few bubbles rising to the top with the filler cap off? The reason I ask is that I went to check out a car this weekend, and with the filler cap off, a small but consistant stream of bubbles came up at idle. The cars turbos are already shot, and the engines compression is not great, but the car is still driveable. I think the o-ring is about done, but there is no white smoke or anti-freeze smell, so I am not real sure of what is going on. Any help would be appreciated.

Ever noticed the way the bubbles are in a glass of champagne? It's like that. From your description I'd say it needs a rebuild.

If your compression is already low, it really doesn't matter if you have an o-ring failure or an apex seal problem. Either way, it's time for a rebuild or a reman.

If you are looking at getting a rebuild, don't drive the car anymore. The more you drive it, the more damage you could cause to the internals, thus costing more money on the rebuild (for replacement parts).

If you are going to get a reman, drive it until it won't drive anymore!

Yea, I had a feeling of that. I was wanting the engine to hang in there for a little while longer, but it seems she has decided to die a slow death on me.

Mahjik,

hehe, I was thinking of going out in a blaze of glory ....*grabs fire extingiusher(sp)*. Reman or rebuilt, with the turbos in need of repair also, I am probably looking a 5k bill in the face, so I've got some thinking to do. Thanks for the help guys.
