For the brake booster, if you've got a mityvac, you can pull the hose off, and pump it full of pressure and see if it holds... just like testing the vac/pressure tanks for the turbo system.

For the check valve, try pushing pressure through the hose in reverse w/ the mityvac. Similar to turbo system check valves.
