Not For Sale

Ok i made my mind up i am not selling my 1993 RX7. After a year of up for sale and alot of lookers i am going to put some money in to her but would like some advice. If i ever see the guy who sold my car i will kill him he told me a bunch of lie's on how good of shape the car was but it had major electrical problems most of which i have fixed aleady, had to rebulid motor blew a seal. so with that said i could use some advice on how to bring her back. befor the motor went she put down 365HP to the rear wheels.

I am looking to put in a new EMS current haltechE8K thinking of microtech (reson new wireing harness electrical problems still have a few)?
for ingnition had MSD's 6A not working now when we put motor back in i could not get it to start so i put back in stock. thinking of HKS ingnition?

PS. i removed about 1pound of wire that he rigg all over, all i had to do was replace a few relay's that i got from the junk yard. just having a bad experince with my first sports car i would like to turn that around.

I hope i did the pic's right

Well the car looks good from what I can see. I know it sux getting sold something some moron was working on. Trust me I have been in the same boat with a DSM that some kid wired his Apexi SAFC and left wires cut and open and not put back together all over the place. It was a nightmare. Just think of it this way. The more time you spend with the car the better you will know her. So when you gusy do hook up she will rock your world and when she does you will be smiling. hehe take that anyway ya want brother. Gl with the ride.

I see zero ducting and huge intercooler and radiator cores. That means, in a nutshell, that neither is functioning as it should be.

Yikes, looks like a wiring mess underhood too. Pretty sloppy FPR install and there's also no heat shielding around the turbo. Typical 1/2-*** job.

I've never seen anyone do an IC/rad setup like that....and for good reason. There is nothing forcing the air through the IC/rad, all of the sides and bottom need to be sealed off to the bumper inlet. Also, for the love of god, get a filter for that turbo!!!

I don't know why you would go Microtech. If the car is already wired up for the Haltech with the ecu and sensors, you will have to redo everything from scratch. Maybe that's for the best at this point though. I don't think the Microtech is that great anyway.

What else has been done to the car? It should be able to make 400+ rwhp, depending on what exact turbo that is.

Intercoolers and radiators both require fresh airflow to do their job. Not just fresh air, *flowing* air. If air isn't flowing through the core, it wont' cool worth a damn.

While a radiator or intercooler might look like air will flow readily through it, in fact it presents a lot of resistance. The thicker the core, the more resistance, and the more the air would prefer to flow around the core instead of through it.

You need ducting to follow all the way from the bumper opening to the edges of the intercooler and radiator, so air going into the mouth of the bumper opening has no way to leak around the cores. This is absolutely vital to proper operation.

Thanks for the replys

I have already begun to move the intercooler down to the front which would bring the rad down also cut front bumper for a tight fit but still have to make something for the sides. That would make enough room for me to put on my K&N filter i already have, for now its a foam pad between 2 mess screens with a hose clamp. I also have to turn the I/C upside down as you seen in my pic's pipeing is at the top of the I/C when i move it down i have to flip it and then i need welding on the I/C i have 2 1/2 inch pipe out of turbo and 3" into the intake so when i flip it pipes dont match.

I was thinking of getting header tape for the back of the turbo on the pipe and ill look into a heat shield for the turbo by the way it's a T-72 and i am running 10psi of boost i still need to get a boost controller later when shes tuned.

As i progress i will post more pic's any ideas are greatly Appreciated.

Ok what been done to the car here it goes

Street ported motor, T-72 turbonetics turbo, tial blow-off valve and wastegate, greddy exaust, greddy front mount I/C, and Fuel pressure regulator

car only runs 10psi and put down 365hp in it current state i think when i get the I/C down in the front & Rad with a boost Controller at 15psi i should be able to hit 400hp or very close.
