Normally Aspirated Rx7
hey guys,
just registered and i really want to purchase a 3rd generation Rx7. I live in Australia and on my P's, so i am not allowed to drive a turbo car, was there any normally aspiated versions of the 3rd generation built. I just love the shape of this car.

Couldn't you technically just get rid of the turbos and make an exhaust manifold to bolt up to the exhaust and just hook up a filter to the elbow or fab some piping up? I know whenever we blow our piping off from high boost we are technically n/a at that point and get depressed without the boost til we pull over and fix it.

too much crap to go through, when I bought my first FD it had a 13B Monsterport N/A engine in it, custom extractors and engine mounts (front mount 13b engine). The fuel system was not modified for the IDA set up so still had the high pressure fuel pump. It would be too m uch hassle to convert, just go buy a Mitsi Lancer and wait till you get your full licence then get a Bat.
I got the N/A running only to sell as it would have been too much hassle to convert, I turned it back to stock.

wannabe_rx7, your aren't the first young Aussie driver to come here and ask this question. Basically, just drive something else until you are able to drive a turbo car. 2nd Generation N/A FC's are a lot of fun. As a matter of fact, the FC was one of my favorite cars that I owned when I was younger.

its NATURALLY aspirated by the way.
eitherway, to make it worthwhile, youd have to be looking at an N/A 20B atleast thats what it think... i mean even the Renesis onnly makes 250BHP in JDM trim so... meh. maybe a Monster Port 13B but then your seeing zero gas mileage.
ever drive an FD without boost? its kinda... sucky. atleast when its not tuned for N/A

I've always though that a ~200 whp 13B NA FD would be fun as hell and CHEAP. I mean, I still love driving my FC and I doubt it has 130 at the wheels.
Not to mention, you could daily drive it and easily get 100k to 200k out of the motor.
I know how some FD owners feel about HP... but I don't really give a **** as long as I'm having fun.

Buy a Miata. Without considering the power factor, it is actually more fun to drive than the RX7. If you ever drove a car that drive like a glove, that would be it. Plus it is much cheaper and easier to work on. Then, when you can afford it, get an RX7.
