Is it normal to FEEL when the 2nd turbo engages?

i finally got my turbos to have a proper 10-8-10 level... with 2nd turbo engaging around 4500-5000 rpms.. however you can actually FEEL the secondary turbo engage making the 1st 4500 rpms @ 10 psi feel slower than from 4500 rpms and on with the 2nd turbo....

my main quesiotn is... is the boost transition when the 2nd turbo engages supposed to be smooth and seamless or is it normal to be able to tell when the 2nd turbo engages??

It is not seamless. You're getting anywhere from 50-75rwhp within a second or two at 4,500rpm. What you are feeling is completely normal, and one of the coolest things about having the car sequential.

Below the transition, you are only on 1 turbo (primary). During and after transition, you are using BOTH turbos. So yes, it will feel slower before the transition.

I totally feel mine. I've read many times that its supposed to be a smooth transition, but im not really sure what they mean by that. All I know is when the second one kicks in it sinks my *** in the seat even more. Other then that the car doesnt jerk or anything when it kicks in.

ok thanks guys....

when i bought the car it was setup perfect and had 2 controllers.. i suppose one is for the wastegate and one is for prespool??

well anyways i was fooling around under the hood and inadvertantly moved the controllers around without making note of where the ***** are suppoed to be.. after driving it afterwars the boost was all retarded and was spiking and just crazy.... i spent a week inbetween work trying to play with the settings and finally tonight got the 10-8-10 i was looking for.. but never noticed when te 2nd turbo actually engaged it was all too seamless now i can feel it..it pulls really nice and much better tha before i guess i was all in my head..

Yes, you will get more power even at the same boost level. The exhaust path opens up and two compressors can supply the air the engine needs at a lower temperature (since the primary turbo is starting to become inefficient near the transition), so you get a big power spike at the transition. It is fun when you are going straight, but it can be a bit of a problem in a turn.

Not only normal,..but expected!!. But just as Mr. Maxcooper stated above, when the Secondary Turbo kicks in while engaging a turn,.. It will quickly become an "abnormal feeling".

When my second turbo comes online it lets up for a second and then slams you back into the seat and I end up breaking traction half the time =/. (12-9-12 pattern)

how do you get a 12-9- 12 pattern??

when i try to adjust the 2 controllers.. i can get the 2nd turbo to boost aobut 13 psi but then my 1st turbo ends up only boosting like 8 psi the closest i could get today while driving and adjusting all day was a 10-8-11 pattern...

i have to controllers and since i didnt install the i have no idea which one controls what so i am adjusting blindly.... carefully but blindly..

and advice??

Its nice that you have been able to adjust your boost. If you are running the stock ECU, now would be a good time to adjust it back to 10-8-10

If it was tuned for 10psi, run 10psi. If you decide to keep running 13psi on the 10psi tune and it isn't really rich at 10psi... Let me get your motor when it goes.
