Non-Seq problems inside.. need sugestions

Ok, so I did the non-seq mod so kill the boost spike that I had.. (hit 15-16psi a few times)....

everything is cool.. car is definetly non-seq and WAY LOUDER. The problem? STILL HAVE BOOST CREEP it hits about 14-15psi then backs down to 10 and stays that way all the way to redline!!

What do you guys suggest?

sounds like the wastegate pill needs to be changed........one with a larger hole would help curb that creep....the increased volume would open the wastegate earlier preventing the spike....

My brother, the original owner of the car, says that there are no pills or restrictors in the lines because they are 94 turbos... Shed some light for me cause I dono about all that... I mean, I suppose that I could go down there and see....

Could someone post a picture or something so that I may identify the lines that may contain the restrictors?

I am wanting to get rid of this boost spike pretty badly since I really am worried about severe engine damage...

FWIW, the only turbos that did NOT come with pills in the wastegate and precontrol actuator hoses are the '99 Japan spec Type RS/RZ twins. The nipples have small holes drilled into them, thus negating the need for pills.

I've heard that there was a batch of 94's that didnt have pills BUT I've never seen one and I've seen a LOT of sets of twins. So far every set on a 93-95 I've seen had the pills.

I agree that you need to change the pills or eliminate them and use manual valves (or an elec boost controller)

What type of boost controller are you using? Stand-alone ECU ie, Power FC, for boost control? ProFec B boost controller? AVCR? Details please...

that is my next step... we are having a little bit of a tough time with this car... the ECU HAS TO BE modified in some way... we have tried to find a Fuel Cut Defender all over this car and we can't find one, the ECU is not labeled with anything... yet, I have seen spikes as high as 15-16psi and the computer does not shut down... so I dont know!

there is no boost controller in place yet. I was thinking about either a Profec B II or a AVC-R but the fact that in the future this car will be single turbo and Power FC, I honestly think that I just want to get a simple and cheap boost controller since I want the ECU to control the boost (This will ensure me that my brother wont mess with it when he gets the car back)

What mods do you have? I think thats the most important thing involved in figuring out why you're having boost creep issues.

Don't rely on the pfc to regulate your boost, it's an unreliable method. Reason being is that the PFC still relies on your stock duty selenoids to regulate boost, and we all know how well it holds up to years of wear and tear. Just to play it safe, you might want to try using an already pre-programmed aftermarket ecu such as M2, Pettit, XS-Engineering, etc. along with a mbc. Who knows, you just might like that set up.

well, the thing is that this car is not going to stay twin. There is gonna be a new motor on this thing with a single turbo in the next year. But its my daily driver. I have an S2000 but my wife uses it since she doesn't like the FD... so even though she rarely ever drives, I have to daily drive the FD. (we have put 600 miles on the S2000 in the last month VS 600 miles on the FD in a week and a half.. )

So while I am twin.. i would like to keep this car reliable until I have purchased all the parts needed for the swap (new motor, single turbo kit, new intercooler, radiator, power fc)

hehe, you need more then the things you listed for single turbo setup.

anywho, i am having turbo problems to begin with so im going to bring it to a rotary specialist to just have them take a look into it.

Prob going to make it full non-seq.

Buy a manual boost controller from these guys. It's what I use. I run full non sequential with a ported motor (including exhaust ports) Straight exhaust.(dp/mp/cb) I never bothered to port the wastgate either and I run 15 psi and never get any boost creep whatsoever.
No need to throw your cash away on a big dollar boost controller for the stock twins. But your going to get boost creep until you get some type of boost controller.

So how about that mods list then? To figure out how to solve your boost creep, or spikes as the case may be, we need to know why they're happening. We can't do that without a mods list very well now can we?

well here are the current mods..downpipe, intake, PF intercooler, exhaust, intercooler duct, and now... non seq... here is a picture under the hood

BTW, here is an update... last night I took a look at the line from the wastegate actuator to the turbo... no pill, in fact the lines are not original lines...

I still have the spike...

Here is the real list for the single turbo setup since someone stated that what I had listed was not enough

T04S
XS Turbo Manifold
Custom DP (my friend has a TIG welder)
Greddy FMIC
Koyo Radiator (possible replacement with V mount instead)
Greddy Elbow
Greddy Type-S blow off
Tial wastegate
Power FC or AEM EMS
custom fuel rail
1600cc secondaries
adj fpr
Pineapple Racing small street port (although now Im undecided for the motor)
new exhaust (possibly greddy)
RX7 Store resonated midpipe
VIS hood
DEFI water temp and boost guages
9's all around for the plugs...

Im sure that I am leaving some things out since that was a lot I just listed outta the top of my head.

ANYWAYS... so in the meantime, I would like to get this issue resolved... SO.. any ideas? there were no pills in place. the car still spikes...

Thanks for the link...

i must say, that is one of the best links that I have seen... Very iinformative.

I think that unless I read something different, I am leaving the wastegate control selenoid unhooked and then using a boost controller or a HomeDepot special to put the boost back up to 10psi or so.
