non sealed battery how bad really?

I just bough a small (acura integra size) battery for my bin relocation. I am always in a rush and i am very impatient when it comes to doing anything and everything. I went and bough the battery and i didn't pay attention if it was sealed or not. Now i have this non sealed battery and I am really wondering is it really that bad???

I know most you guys say SEALED BATTERY is the way to go but i really need some answers on why and what down side of the non sealed battery. thanks

I'd return it. If I had to do it again, I'd use a Miata Westco battery or something better designed to be mounted in the interior. Check out moconnor's install thread in the FAQ

Unsealed batteries vent hydrogen gas, which is highly flammable and an asphyxiant. Although I don't know the exact rate at which it's released, its better to be cautious. On top of that you risk spilling all of that stuff in the cabin.

No Go.

I had a normal lead acid unsealed battery in the trunk for a while and the bolts in the bose acousticwave and other random screws started to corrode and build up this white powder stuff...

cleaned everything and changed to a sealed oddessey and all is good now

So if you take care of it then why is it crucial that you purchase it locally?

Ok i go to return the battery at auto zone and them ****** wont give me my $95 dollars back because "I used it". After i heated argument i decided to just chimi up another $90 and get a small D51R optima battery at a total of $185 dollars.

what do you guys think about the D51r optima battery? I would have never payed $185 dollars for a battery but i had not choice. ether i buy the battery or get arrested for chocking the guy to death.

if you guys tell me this battery wont fit my bin i will snap and start throwing this battery at everyone in autozone

You didn't even bother to measure it before you dropped 185 bucks on it?

The autozone here in CA sell optmia batteries

Go with a sealed battery. Dont let sulfuric acid get in your bins for one it stinks, and it burns - it is acid you know

Wow...
Mobeoner,
Ever heard of measure twice cut once?

I think there is a thread on the optima battery fitting in the bins, but I thought the guy had to do some fabrication to truly get it to work out. Either that or it was a specific mini optima that slid in nicely.

... Love my turbojeff battery tray
