Noise when accelerting

When I accelerate unless i do it really lightly I get this really bad sort of grinding sound. I recently had clutch, flywheel, motor mounts put on. So I bring it back to the shop that did the work they put it on rack and poked around a little. Then said they're not sure but they think it's the exhaust. My question ? is it possible for trubos to make this sound? or could it be from a clogged cat? It seems to come form under the shifter, and it seems to be louder when i'm in the passenger seat. I can avoid this sound by accelerating really slowly and it doesn't happen on freeway. I'm also thinking maybe since both mounts we're broken the motor was lifted up and new mounts were put on could this have bent somthing like the propeller shaft?

Take it back again. If it did'nt make noise before you took it in, it's most likely their fault. Don't you think?

I think if you bent a shaft, you would hear/feel a little more than just some "noise".

Odd, now we have two people with grinding in the tranny tunnels...

They also gave me the car back with the map sencor disconnected barely running and puffing smoke. I really dont think its the exhaust. I think it might be turbos but i dont know if they would make noise. It really is an aweful sound, when the mechanic test drove it he imidiatly turned around and brought it back to shop. Then the boss was like ok its the exhaust. I think he just didnt want to mess with it casue they needed the rack for other costomers. I'll have to take it somewhere else and see what they say.

no dude, you wont - take it back to them. It wasnt making the noise when you took it in, now it is.

IF you take your TV to a shop to repair the speakers, and it comes back with stripes all over the screen - you dont take it to another shop to get it fixed do you?!

If some exhaust work was done when you took it in the midcat is vibrating on the tunnel heat shield.
