Question noise coming from under shifter area...HELP!!!

ok guys i've been having this problem that kinda comes and goes over time.

what is happening is when i'm at a complete stop, then try to get going out of 1st gear the car kinda feels like its studdering and shaking or hopping a little bit. it only does it when i'm just trying to get going, no where else. then when i'm going i hear this weird noise, kinda sounds like a winding / scraping type of noise, coming from under the shifter area.

i do have a C's short shifter, but that wouldn't make the car studder / shake / hop i dont think.

any ideas guys?

Germ

Take your shifter apart...you might find the broken ring. It will be white....Does anyone know where you can buy the aluminum one from Japan? The plastic ones break all the time.

nope its not broken, i took it off yesterday because i thought i needed to add some tranny oil down there. it was a lil dry so i added some oil but that didn't cure anything.

it is

#A your clutch and transmission is worn

EDIT": just saw the grinding noise problem.

its clutch or shocks causing stutter on start up.

but transmission syncros, gears make whinding/grinding sounds.

does the car have trouble shifting in to first from neutral at a stop?

Loose rear suspension parts can lead to some funny noises, particularly when first pulling away. I'd check the rear toe-links and pillow-ball joints.

no trouble shifting into first from neutral, clutch and flywheel have less than 10K on them (act S/S and act flywheel), suspension is pretty new tein flex's maybe 6-7K so i dont think those are worn. this problem is weird it happened before and then it went away now its back again. i'm totally lost

if that is the case then most likely it is not clutch chatter. you need to pin point the noises. it could indeed be from the rear PPF area. check and see if it is cracked or lose next time u go under there.

did u replace the clutch yourself? the PPF must be realigned when removing the transmission. most people dont know about this.

There's no need to bump this thread. I think all the major possibilities have been suggested, and you should consider yourself lucky that you can have it fixed under your warranty.
