Unhappy No Overflow Tank - No AST Either

What is going to happen if I run my FD without either Overflow or AST Tanks installed. I have just installed a new motor and the Thermostat neck on the new Jap motors doesn't come with predrilled holes for my AST Elimination Kit. I have a new Thermostat Neck ordered but I would like to drive it until the new neck comes in. Is this gonna damage anything?

Yes, pressure will build until something fails like maybe a hose will split or maybe even a water seal in the engine.

Sorry guys but I disagree.
I have one of those cool Jspec motors with the 1 piece thermostat housing. When my ast broke, I bypassed it and planned on getting the kit. Well I can't get the kit without changing my housing either. Well needless to say, my lazy *** never did it. It's been 2 years that I've been running with no AST, reserve tank. NOTHING. All I do is add about 1/4 cup od water every 2 months

Do you run it hard? It seems like the pressure would build and there would be a falure somewhere, or does it just cook off inside the system and hold the pressure???

If you run the car real hard there would be a problem.

No problem?? Where do you think that 1/4 cup is going? Maybe being pushed in to your engine. This is really asking for it in my opinion. One day something will fail and if it is a hose and you don't notice right away kiss your motor by by. Do what you want but this stuff is there for a reason on all cars.

Yes I beat the everliving **** ouytta my car, look at my mods!!!
As far as that 1/4 cup and where it goes, thats simple, First there will be some evapotation of antifreeze/water in any car, especially at high temps like our cars run. Second, The rad. cap and the AST cap both work the same way. It reaches a pre determined pressure, and opens allowing the pressure to relieve itself. I will admit that I do have some coolant stains on my thermostat housing, but there has never been enough that came out that it made it to the ground. My car is a '93, the motor... I have no clue. I found out on my own that it was swapped, the previous owner did'nt tell me, or maybe he did'nt know either.

Anyway to make a long story short. My system works for me, it may not work for everyone, and I'm not saying to go ahead and do it.
