No bost, searched, pissed and craby

Hello,

the tile explains it.

first off...

bought the car for 3500 not runnig got it runnign by replacing the leading coil, broke a shitload of hoses tried to replace what i had and said **** it when i couldn;t figure it out. now here is my problem. no bost, none nada.

bought a boost gauge, get vac, WOT 0. nothing no check engine lights.

SO this weekend i am going to do the simplified sequential setup. anyone think this is a good/bad idea please comment. I am sick of this thing i want boost.

my question is...

1. If i do the simp. seq. with new hoses should i be go for boost?
2. i checked some of the air pipes for leaks, and couldnt find anything.

THIS IS SERIOUS!

if anyone lives in the St. Paul area of MN or if they better yet live in Hudson WI, I am willing to pay for their gas to get to my home. im a poor college student with very little cast to get it going but would like to get it runing good for under 2k.

Please guys, i searched a bit and found a bit but everyhting they say i have tried!!

SO DO I GO simplified seq, and start from there to troubleshoot my boost problems?

thanks in advance

-theo

If you broke a lot of the hoses then you should either replace the hoses or go non sequential.

I was in a similar situation and just decided to go full non sequential, it hasn't really been that bad.

So far going non sequential hasn't cost me NEARLY 2k. If you can borrow the tools it should be a pretty cheap job. Just need basic hand tools, 4" grinder ($30 at lowes), some parts need to be milled and welded (i'll know how much that was tomorrow), and vacuum hoses. You can make all your own blockoff plates with sheet metal from a hardware store and then seal them with silicone gasket maker.

I'm nearly done with my non seq set up, you can PM me if you need help doing it.

In the FAQ there is a real good site that has a step by step but unfortunatly has very few pictures.

I'm really tired and still a little buzzed so hopefully this post makes sense.

MASSIVE boost leak - thats my money.
print out a vacuum diagram and fix what you broke - you'll learn a lot.

also, if you're crabby - get down to the pharmacy and get some lice spray, that should sort it.

First of all, while I can understand your frustrations, you may need to rethink owning a car like this if you are already 'crabby and pissed'. Let me get this straight: You break a lot of stuff and then somehow expect the car to run correctly? These cars are finicky little bitches that will Jap-slap you into next week if you try to take the gorilla approach to them.

This is what I would do: Wade back into it and see what all you have broke. Carefully evaluate the situation. If all that is broken is indeed just some hoses, these are pretty easy to fix. If you've broken the hoses AND the solenoid nipples off, that is another story as far as cost goes. However, I personally think it best to keep the turbos sequential and to always keep as much stuff stock as possible. Even if you have to replace ALL the solenoids and hoses on the entire 'rat's nest', you can find them for sale all the time in this forum. By staying stock, you can get a lot better help and responses to your questions when something goes awry.

A lot of people have done some very in-depth writings into the various FD repairs and upgrades (Dale Clark has an entire website!) that will greatly help out the novice FD owner.
And most of us on the forum like helping out when we can.

Good luck!

Yep, you're going to have to take your time with it. Print out the colored vacuum diagram (http://www.turborx7.com/images/Techn...e_diagram2.jpg) and get to work with it. If you broke any solenoids, they're pretty cheap and easy to find used.

The only way you're getting NO boost is with a) VERY blown turbos, b) a big boost leak. That's it. Even with the vacuum lines all kind of goofy, you'll get some boost.

If you're looking for a cheap and easy to work on car, this isn't it. Many of the parts for this car aren't cheap, and you REALLY have to do jobs the right way, or they will come back to bite you in the ***. This car can give a lot of fun and enjoyment, but it will require a lot in return. This is also gonna be the deal with getting the car so cheap - you're gonna have to sort out a lot of problems.
