Question no blower...bigger water pump pully?

Is it possible to make the stock pullies work withou tthe blower with a smaller timing belt? Or do I have to increase the water pump pulley size so that it works?

i'll guess that you mean the air pump. No you do not need a bigger pulley. You need a shorter belt and a PFC Otherwise you will be running extremely rich at idle. As the air pump puts air into the engine at idle.

Soo again not a bigger pulley but a shorter belt to get it running. And add a PFC to get it running correctly.

Yea mine was running dog rich at idle because I had the airpump disconnected... it was making an annoying grunt sound whenever I drove though so I preferred running rich. :/

You should increase the water pump pulley to give better contact (like some of the kits do), however you can just remove the airpump and use a smaller belt with the stock pullies.

Do you have your timming belt going over the water pump pulley or beside it?

The belt should go on the driver's side (US Spec that is) of the water pump pulley. Should on the exact same side as if the air pump was still attached.

no no I mean, I know that the belt rubbs on the side of the water pump pulley, on the right side of the pulley, but if I got a shortened belt would I have to loop it over the water pump pulley? Would that even work or would spinning it i the oppisite direction screw it up all together?

When you remove the airpump and put on a shorter belt.. The routing of said belt is the same on the water pump pulley. You will NOT be reversing the rotation, or the routing. You are just eliminating the airpump from the loop.

The WP puley is not like the main pulley in that it only is running on the belt with one face of the pulley. Instead of having it rap around like you are thinking. Basically the WP pulley just gets in the path of the belt and uses the spinning belt to drive the face of it.

Like Mahjik said, The belt will ride on the same side as if the airppump were still there
If you are still confused,Send me a PM and i will send you pics of it by email.they are big.
