Question Nickel plated brake rotors?

I was talking to a guy at a Brembo brake warehouse and he mentioned that they Nickel plate rotors for an additional $20 each. He said that they look great and the plating prevents the hats from getting rusty. The plating will eventually wear off on the pad surface (duh) but the hats should remain shiny. Has anyone heard of this or tried it? I would like to try this since I've heard the cad plating isn't all that great and I'm tired of rusty hats.

Regards,
Frank

I have heard of Cadmium Plating on the rotors (mine are) but not Nickel - since Nickel is a very HARD & ABRASION RESISTANT metal (they use it to plate GUN barRels) I imagine it would take a long time to wear it off the swept area - don't know how the Friction would compare to Plain Cast Iron though.

I'm also intereasted in the plating, but what does the cadmium look like? And the question everyone (including myself) needs to know: "How Much".

www.kvrperformance.com will cadmium plate your new rotors (from them) either black (looks really cool) or a silver finish. It will not wear off, and will keep the hats from rusting

I have seen a car with black plated rotors on black rims and black car and it looked pretty tight.

Cheers

I dedided on a Cadmium I finish in silver. Looks pretty hot IMHO. Paid $25 each here locally. BTW, here is a pic of a couple of the rotors I got from Goodfellafd3s.

My set of 4 stock FD rotors that were purchased through a discount Mazda dealer this summer, came silver/gray powder coated. They look great!

I Have a set of the nickle plated slotted/drilled Brembo rotors on the front of my FD. Need a pair for the rear now. They look and work great.
