Purple FD

James who owns this FD, is from Taupo, NZ .
He is one of the nicest and most talented drivers I have had the pleasure of riding with. How do I know - experience.
Its not a show car its his fun car - just cause he stuck it in a show doesnt mean its a show car, he could of used his S8 for that.
Yes they are 20 inch wheels, they are for looks like any other set of 20s. On the track it runs 17s with slicks....hence the dumb ***** previous comment on the tires being bald.....no **** thats how they come.
Whats special about it? Its ******* fast! Single turbo 290kw rocket that handles like its on rails and wins burnout comps.
James is a passionate rotarian and enjoys the thrill of driving and is a down to earth dude to boot that wouldnt bat an eyelash at helping any of you out.
Crashes happen to the best of us, if we wanted to be nanas we would have bought a less than amazing sports car and kept it under lock and key in the garage.
If you dont take any risks in life you live life safely....and when you die you die boring.
My advice...everyone and every driver is different, dont dog on someone when you dont know them nor understand what kind of person they are. I understand this is a forum with internet drivers but you can think cant you? If you dont know about something, ask....thats how we can learn from each other.
I learn everyday......3 motors, 5 gearboxes, 4 clutches, 2 x S5 RX7s written off and the list goes on. Thank god I havent crashed my S7. James I feel for you bro.

At least this guy wasn't parked illegally in a handicapped parking spot when it got wrecked. He's also not complaining about it either. Hopefully it's an easy fix.

This post is freaking me out. I'll be taking my FD out on the track for the first time in Sept. I sure as hell don't want that to happen to my car.

When you see me out at Infineon Raceway, I'll be the one being lapped by a Yugo...LOL!

In most cases, it's the truth; the driver ran out of talent.

i.e. they were trying to push the car more than they should be (hence the phase "ran out of talent").

However, there are cases when it's not "driver error", but I haven't heard anything about this accident to show that it was a mechanical or non-driver error incident.

That may be the case, however the comment was still unnecessarily condescending considering the unknowns in the situation as well as the fact that the poor guy's car is trashed and he may or may not be lucky to be alive.

If you're looking for "track humor", "**** happens" is much more appropriate given the circumstances.

You guys need to do some reading....

Sorry, but every automobile is "piloted". It's up to the "pilot" to "make it go right". If this happened on the street because someone slammed into him, I would feel sorry for him. If someone lost control of their car and smacked him on the track, then I would feel sorry for him.

If he pushed the car harder than he could handle, that's his own fault (track or street). Do I feel sorry for him? Hell no. Anyone putting their car on the track should know that it may not come back home (or come home "crashed"). If they are looking for sympathy from doing something they know could damage their car? They won't get it from me.

The funny thing, I descibed this thread to a lot of other track guys and you know what they said when I mentioned the wrecked car? "ran out of talent"...

Come on guys. As was said before, don't take your car to the track if you will be comprising the family's financial well being. In old Showroom Stock days, I could not understand people driving a car with payments on it; meet a guy paying off two wreaks and still going.

I know nothing of the accident circumstances or the driver so I will leave out my opinion.

The car doesn't look that bad off, can not see RHS but both front wheels look straight, oil cooler may be broken , thus engine may be toast or not ???

I have seen this car before

This car was featured in an on-track battle in the DVD High Octane 5: Overboost. That is the same DVD that featured the Stillway RX-7 (you know the single turbo with 600+ hp). Anyway this car made about 360hp and posted the second fastest time in the track battle (the fastest was a 700 hp track-spec WRX for comparison). Anyway the car has a greddy single turbo + FMIC. Too bad he crashed it. Anyway if you want to see the video check ebay or something. I downloaded the DVD from bittorrent. Just thought yall should know
