Newbie Rebuilder aint ashamed to ask
Okay I have gone as far as I possibly can without needing help. But now I am stumped and could really use a hand. I have a few questions that I haven't been able to get past on my 3rd gen rebuild.
I checked for endplay and I my dial indicator reads to 50 but has 100 clicks on it, and I get about 9 or 10 clicks or marks rather. So If I am correct my end play is too loose so when calculating it I am .009. Now the part I am confused on is selecting the spacer. I'm told to pick a thinner spacer, but wouldn't that make things more loose, wouldn't it be the opposite thicker to have less play? I have a V spacer. So I'm certain there isn't a spacer for me. My bearings must be bad. But what bearings is the video reffering to the rotor bearings? or the two small bearing that are near the spacer, that is where I'm confused. If it is the rotor bearings, I'll take the engine and dump it in the garbage.

Ok.. first don't panic the rotor bearings have nothing to do with your end play. You do indeed need a thinner spacer by .0068. But are you sure you have a "V" spacer? not a "A" spacer?? If it is a "A" spacer, you'll need to replace the "thrust bearing" and the "thrust washer" then recheck the end play.. But you should check with someone and make sure you are reading your dial indicator correctly.

Thanks very much for the help and guidance Gadd. Yes, I need to double check I am reading the dial indicator correctly I was uncertain about that myself. I know for sure that I counted 9-10 marks off the indicator while having it magnitized to the engine, but I'm not sure exactly what its measurements are whether it is in mm, I believe each mark is .0005 of an inch, this is the first time using this tool as you can see. Also to be honest with you the reading on the spacer had slightly faded away, from what I could make of it, it looked to be a V, but than again a V could actually be an A if held upside down.
That is a relief to hear the bearings needed to be replaced are outside of the rotor housings. I'll let you know how it goes.

One other thing, did you torque the shaft bolt before you checked the endplay? If you didn't the reading will be wrong. And you can mic the spacer an "A" should be .3140 to .3147
