newbie...nuff said lol

Hi everyone. Name's Cody. I just purchased a '93 FD this afternoon and am still in shock. I've wanted one since I saw a Montego Blue '93 many yrs back in the parking lot of a car show. It looked like a Japanese Corvette. I was in awe. I've "settled" with two different vehicles ('03 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS, '02 Chevrolet S10 "Xtreme") , but the need for what I really wanted was always present. Today my dreams came true. It has 86,xxx miles on the chassis, w/ around 18,000 miles on a new engine & turbos from Mazda. It also has a Mazda front strut tower bar, GReddy blow-off valve, aftermarket radiator, Gracer AirInx custom intake and GReddy turbo timer. It also has diamond audio M3 series speakers w/ amp, and a Pioneer head unit. Clean title w/ all receipts. Originally the Montego blue, beautifully repainted in the factory silver. No dings on the chassis, body panels are all fine. It does have a small oil leak though which worries me. I'm hoping it's not the turbos. I tried to crawl underneath to pinpoint the leaks location but can't quite do it. lol Anyways, it's great to actually put in my first of hopefully many posts on here! Peace!

if the oil leak is on the drivers side it can be one of three things: oil pedestal, oil filler neck, or oil pan (these are the most likely culprits)

the oil pedestal can be fixed by buying 2 new o-rings

the oil filler neck with 1 oring

the oil pan by resealing?

when theres a oil leak, GET THEM CHECKED, becuz the FDs are known to have high temp inside the engine bay. Once the temp gets high enought, the leakage can become terrible and cause a fire under there. I've had that problem, so better get it fixed before anything happened, and also keep a fire extinguisher in the FD as a back up just incase anything happens. Well good luck and do reliability mods and suspension mods is what most pplz recommended here. Have fun.

Take off the piping coming from the turbos and look for oil. A little film of oil is normal, but enough oil to pool in the low spots can result in a small leak if the gaskets aren't brand new. (The gaskets are crush type gaskets, which are only supposed to be installed once, but many folks re-use them). So if the gasket is oily from the inside edge all the way to the outside edge, you've found your culprit.

Welcome to the Forum and good luck with your car. They can be the best thing or the worst thing to happen to you, depending on luck and how deep your pockets are...lol!

Just a FYI....you MIGHT want to modify your screen name a bit. The entire 'stunna' or 'stunnaz' thing doesn't work here due to the infamous "Icy Hot Stunnaz".

Thank you all for the welcome and the pointers. I appreciate it. As for the leak, it's on the passenger side. From the teensiest angle that I could squeeze in to peer underneath, it looks like it's leaking right before the undercover (maybe above the front passenger-side steering gear boot? That would be the pwr steering oil pump, right?). I still need to take it in to have it checked out. Any other input would be tremendously helpful. Thanks again!

I just got a '93 Mazda RX7 mechanic shop manual, btw. It's been my most recent reading material. Please feel free to point out anything I might've missed due to my over-eagerness to find the source of this leak. It drips down onto the undercover, and when the car's in motion (I haven't driven it in 2 weeks) it ends up splattering beneath the undercarriage.
