New RX7

Hey People

Just dropping a line to say Hi. Purchased my first RX-7 about 5 weeks ago, it's a 1992 Vintage Red FD, Australian delivered, completely stock. Always wanted an RX, it's my dream car and I still can't believe I finally own one. I read up heaps before I bought it on all the quirks of the FD.

So far I've changed the stereo (it didn't work so went for a Clarion MP3 deck) added an aftermarket alarm system and had a major service at a local rotary specialist. Had all the oils changed, all the filters changed, new drive belts and hoses etc. They said the car was in really good condition, as did the full vehicle inspection I had pre-purchase. I don't have any papers on it, but the guy that traded it in to the dealer bought an imported series VIII 2002 model so I can only hope he's a lover and looked after it. I'm having the pre-cat taken out and replaced with a downpipe next week.

My question is this: Does anybody know if it's possible to get OEM bumpers for the series VI from anywhere? Mine is slightly dented behind the numberplate. The numberplate hides it so I don't really mind but it still annoys me. I'm considering keeping the stock look of the car to maximise re-sale value (vintage factor). If I replace the bumper I'd probably rather an original rather than upgrading to a 99 spec.

I've searched all week with no luck. I've only found aftermarket body kits and 99 spec stuff. I'm located in Perth, Australia, and can't find anything here. I'm still waiting for Mazda Australia to get back to me.

Cheers again and may you all be of much help to me in the future

Welcome to the club.

Your best chance on getting on is Mazda daeler in Australia even if they dont have it in stock they could get it for you no matter what since the rx7 was sold in the Australian market.

You can probably just take the plate and holder off. Take off the bumper push it out the dent to normal and just repaint it. Mine is like this to but im about to get a different bumper anyway ill check my stock bumper when i get home

Use a heat gun, get it hot and push on the back using a damp cloth (wear some gloves too), this might work.

Contact Marcuss Read (in Sydney) on 041 130-1241 & he will assist you with getting either a new or used bar to suit your 92-model series-6.

For a 92 version to be in such good condition as you describe is doing very well indeed. You will only find the series-8's (9-02) in excellent condition here in Sydney. Unless its a show car
