new and rebulit ergines

i have seen tons of Fds with the new engine with 20k miles or so on it. i have tried to do a search for this, but typically, is a new engine going to last the same amount of miles as the one that was replaced, or does it just depend? it seems like they are needing to be replaced within 100K. can i trust a bebuilt engine, or should i stick straight with the new engine? i am looking at a 94 FD so, i was just wondering about the new versus rebuilt engines. thanks

You can't really get *new* engines for FD's, unless you're talking 20k original miles on the car itself. Most people say they got a new engine and it's either a 3rd part rebuild or a Mazda Reman. If it's a Mazda Reman, beware, there's been a lot of talk about them being pretty badly done. If it's a rebuild, find out who did it. A rebuild can be great, or can be ****, depending on who did it / what kind of care they took when they did it.

I swear that the engine I got from Carlos at GT Welding and High Perf. Mazdas is 100% new. He had the opportunity to get a brand new core from somebody and he bought it and saved it for me. He also bought brand new rotors/housings and everything else. I was very pleased when I got the engine a few months ago and I'm even more pleased that it was built by a professional without using anything that has been previously used in some way. I will hopefully see actual mechanical results later this month. A brand new engine is important to get now for me because I want to have a strong platform for my future mods and don't want to cross my fingers on an old 94000 mile engine. I must say it was $3200 well spent and I just can't wait to get it in!

You can buy a new engine (all new parts), but it just costs too much. About $5000+ for a new engine. Reman runs around $2000-2500.
