New PLX Devices R-500 wideband - WHOA!

http://www.plxdevices.com/R-500_productinfo.htm

Wideband, EGT, data logger, VERY nice display, USB interface to a PC...this thing is sharp! You can also log knock, and hook headphones up to listen to knock!

Buddy just sent me the link to it.

Little pricey, but BOY does it have the features.

Dale

Hmm, looks pretty interesting. Definitely has some nice features. Price is worth it if it can accomplish all that without the usual bugs that accompany something new with that kind of computing power.

Not so sure about the usefulness of the analog "knock listening" feature (on our engines, by the time you hear it, it's usually too late, and the positioning of the sensor is subject to debate...), but still, the device looks very promising.

I think I'm ordering one next week. Depends on the price I pay for the microtech.

hey kevin, what ecu are you using? if its the powerfc w/ datalogit. . . there really isnt too much of a use in all of that things features. . . the techedge unit in conjunction with datalogit can pretty much cover what is needed. . . or even the plx m300

i dont think id care to have all that logging capabilities when i have a datalogging ecu.

the knock stuff is cool however. . . i just wonder how "accurate" it is

Has anyone installed this PLX R-500 ? I should be receiving mine tomorrow, and would like some install help/tips. Basically I need to know which one of our TPS wires to input into this R-500 for datalogging the TPS, if you look at the 94 FSM here on page F-158, the FSM describes the function and voltages for the TPS wires. There are two wires (of importance, total of 3 actually) for the TPS that go to the ECU, a narrow range (3F, G/R) and full range (3G, B/G). More info about the TPS is on page F-168. I assume I would connect to the full range wire, but I wanted to double check with anyone here who has either installed this wideband or anyone who knows which wire I should use. There are four wires connecting to the TPS, from top to bottom - brown/black , green/red (3F), brown/white , black/green (3G) . This info is in the wiring diagram on page Z-32, go here for this wiring diagram

There are a total of six inputs that can be used, I want to log RPM, TPS, either Speed or Inj. duty, and the Map sensor, possibly more. I have a PFC (not yet tuned with a wideband) and do not have the datalogit.

I bought this unit from www.streetrays.com.

I plan to install the O2 sensor in my midpipe before the resonator, that way it will be easier to take off the midpipe to have the bung welded in the midpipe instead of taking off and welding into the end of the downpipe.

Let me know if anyone has any helpful information, Thank you! Tom

I was trying to upload the FSM to my server, but it didn't work, I guess maybe because it is so big. So you can get to it here, my link "94 FSM here" in the above post doesn't work.

The PFC commander shows the voltages for both the narrow range and full range TPS wires so maybe these displayed voltages will help me figure out which wire to use if it really matters, I just looked at the PFC manual.

it was down to that or the turboxs tunerpro for me... i went for the tunerpro because of the sensor it uses.

7057's suck and the ntk's are too expensive. the 6066 is a nice blend.

if anyone in socal gets this thing, do you wanna take a day and we can compare the plx and turboxs units side by side? we could do a whole writeup and post up for the forum.

He is also a distributer.

For local people in the DE, MD, PA and NY area
www.carversion2.com also carries PLX units.

LC-1 seems to be a pretty cost effective wbo2. Coupled with the XD-1 gauge it's a pretty neat combination.

http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/x...me.php?cat=252

$400 and you have sensor, controller and gauge.

Simon.

I bought my from Steve when he only got 2 from plxr, One was in his car and he sold the next one to me. Cam from pettit has one and the last time I spoke to hime, he was praising it like mad. He had it hooked up the rear of the car, not by the down pipe and he said it was sooooooooooo acurate for being down there.

Trust me, I cant wait to use mine, waiting on my engine to be finished

seems like this would be an awesome interface with the carputer we are working on over here. How is the software when hooked to a PC, is it user friendly? sounds interesting.

I really like the GUI based gauge screen. If it does everything it says well, then its not a bad price at all. Does any of the vendors supply them? maybe we could get a GB going on. I just bought an Innovate WBO2, but damn with the carputer this could be invaluable.
