New-ish air duct for '99 spec noses from Odula
Found this today -
http://www.odula.com/page/fd_intake.htm
If you don't know, the '99s were redesigned to draw intake air from behind the front license plate. It goes up from there, around the hood latch, and through the airbox duct to the airbox.
Anyhow, this duct looks like it attaches behind the front license plate with rivets to help draw air into the duct. Pretty neat.

New ..."ish" (haha). The had an older version with the opening above and tilted the plate downwards. But regardless, the 99+ models have a different intake ducting system and i'm not shure if older models would benefit other then cooling the bay off abit. Maybe that could be a good used item FDNewbie could offer to people in f'd up smog states (like CA). I have their Carbon wing insert and the quality and finish is flawless. I personaly had another idea for the license plate was to cut it open except for a strip on the top and then using the folding plate holder to tuck the plate inwards and add cooling to my FMIC.

I would like to see those oil ducts, please.
I mentioned if you came across some used airbox inlet duct for the '99+ that maybe some people may want to buy it if they have a '99+ bumper and take advantage of the seperate clod air intake to the air box instead of the sharing the air with the battery for the older style.

^ yeah, there is very little CA guys can do to stay CARB legal. The Racing Beat inlet was a great idea but it was made out of paper thin plastic, should have beens ABS, fiberglass or carbon. Mine crumbled like a dried leaf when I removed it and threw it away (waste of $100). The Adam C air box mod is perfect for CA stock guys. Also converting to '99+ type of intake would be CARB legal to. You would still retain a stock Mazda air box and the ducting to the '99+ front would be Mazda as well. I would think people in Japan would be throwing them away when they convert to single. There are also different intake boxes like Knightsports that retain all the hoses (air pump, bov, etc) which makes that kit CARB legal.

I was able to snag a pair of the fiberglass Rotary Extreme 99 oil cooler ducts before they closed up shop, I'm assuming they were replicas of the R-magic.
I also just wanted to add that I'm glad as hell that I don't live in cali, you guys get hammered between the **** gas, the emissions, the noise *****, etc.

Re: the other intakes you're referring to, prob is, they're made by AutoExe and Knightsports and the like, and are essentially more expensive than most ppl are willing to pay...
