New high score!

I got 310.7 miles before my gas light came on. That's a new record for my car.

She's mostly stock. Downpipe and catback are all that I've got on at the moment. I've got a set of new plugs and a fuel filter I need to put on, I bet I could get more out of her. This is mostly granny driving but it's around town, so I figured that was pretty good.

That's actually not that good. haha

Probably around 17 mpg, assuming you had around 2 gallons left in the tank when the light came on.

I got around 27mpg highway when my car was running. That equates to around 500mi on a tank.

*edit*
That's not terrible for city driving

Yea, it all depends on your car and how you drive. I got 28 once on the highway and when I was daily driving it I got an average of 21. I very often got over 400 miles before filling up.

I've seen right at about 400 miles on a tank when travelling cross-country. This was with a power fc, and it wasn't all cruising---I definitely made a few runs deep into the triple digits

Since the gas tank of an FD is slightly over 20 gallons, and you could technically get 25 mpg cruising on the freeway, one could go 500 miles on a tank of gas .............. theoretically

Of course, I usually get about 9 mpg ..............

I guess you think of it as a video game? You worry about gas miles on an FD? I need proof you did 310.7 miles... LOL! Show me some pics or videos!

I know that the gas tank is listed as ~20gal. but I've never been able to put more that 17gal. in it. I've even ran completely empty but the pump will always cut off around 17gal. I daily drive it and get a consistant 330 miles to a tank-higway and 230-city.

so the 7s really do have a gas light? i was to afraid to drive it that close to empty because i though it was bad for the car just in case it ran out of gas and i didnt want to starve it..

Yes, a low fuel light that should come on when only 2 gal remain in the tank.

EDIT: well, actually it's a small light on the fuel gauge, just like the "add coolant" light on the temp gauge.

it is bad... people are warned not to race on less than a 1/4 tank. i try to never let it get to far below a half. its not worth losing a motor trying to test your fuel economy. you have to fill the car up sometime. plus who really cares about the mileage its a sports car!!!

wow... I'm jealous of just about everybody in here. My gas mileage is (was... my engine blew) atrocious. I'm talking 10-11 mpg and I'm STOCK. I don't know why I got so screwed.

After searching for a little bit, I was actually surprised my tank didn't get me farther as a lot of people have reported higher than me. Could be due to that being on road trips and a lot of interstate/hwy driving I suppose. Is there anything else I can do other than changing out the plugs and fuel filter?

I don't believe that I have a low fuel indicator in my rx7. It's a very early 93 (Feb 92) R1 if that adds to statistics.
